Thank heavens! Mercury stations direct

Today Mercury turns direct leading up to tomorrow morning’s full moon in Pisces.

I found myself starting the day with a Hail Mary and an Our Father. This Mercury retrograde was difficult for me. I was caught in my own head a lot, full of self-doubt, worry, and complaints. I tried to push through but I was definitely cranky. I had a short fuse.

This morning I’m mostly grateful.

Today’s a good day for dreaming and contemplation. With the moon in Pisces and the Virgo sun opposite Neptune we can be awed as well as humbled. Something has gone our way while we’ve been trudging along, attending to so many details. Something has helped us while we’ve been helping others.

The Aquarius Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse

What’s the symbolism of full moonlight being obstructed for almost two hours? Can that be a good thing?

I notice my mind racing this morning. I saw some aggressive and unpredictable driving during my commute. Maybe we can all benefit from a moment to chill.

The full moon can be unsettling. We can feel separated from what we hoped for during the new moon. We can see what hasn't come to pass. We can see what's out of our control.

What's behind all of our emotion today? The eclipse gives us an opening for shadow work. The shadow of the Leo sun includes pride, stubbornness, arrogance, hiding, or ego. In the shadow of the Aquarius moon lies rigidity, defiant isolation, mob mentality, or complete detachment: “Who cares? Whatever. I’m over it. I give up." Even the earth has a shadow: sacrificing our essence and imagination to what’s practical or day-to-day, forgetting to reach and dream.

Too much ego or not enough? The Full Moon and Course Correction

In the first few hours after the full moon I’m thinking about ego.

How do we stay strong enough to exist in this world and make a difference as unique individuals yet fluid and receptive enough to absorb the energy, power and essence of those around us, too? Sometimes others will reflect our own light, but sometimes it’s just not about us. Sometimes we just have to stand back and see someone else shine. Can we be kind, gracious, and mature?

The opposition of the sun and moon gives us a chance to ego-correct if we’ve become a little overbearing. When we stand outside ourselves we can be deeply awed and empowered by what’s greater than we are. If we have the reverse challenge – giving so much to others that we fail to see, nurture, or express ourselves – we can try to acknowledge and start to change that dynamic, too. Sometimes we’re too scared or cynical to step into our own power. We stay in the background not out of grace and generosity but out of a different motivation, and others miss out on receiving what we can give.

The Full Moon in Capricorn or WTF??!!!

Tonight is the Full Moon in Capricorn. The brightest night symbolizes a chance to see most clearly.

The full moon is when the sun and moon are 180 degrees apart, forming an opposition. There’s a feeling of tension and a tendency to project. We see The Other during the full moon: Whoever or whatever seems far away or opposed to us. It’s a humbling and humanizing experience.

Baby, Keep Your Head Up: Sagittarius Moon

Tomorrow night is the Capricorn Full Moon. (Sunday 12:07 a.m. EDT) I woke up this morning to find this in my Inbox – astrologer April Elliott Kent’s take on its symbolism:

“It’s safe to assume that just about everyone you meet is carrying a heavier burden than they feel they can bear. We are tough with each other these days, because the world is tough, and so many of us are nobody’s children, with no soft place to turn to when we have failed or fallen. But we are still capable of astonishing kindness as well. We’re all trying to survive, and we’re scared we won’t, and that makes us hard. But we haven’t yet completely left behind the urge to break each other’s fall—and that makes us human.”

In the last hours of the Sagittarius moon, try to have a hopeful, generous heart. See which blessings just come to you, and which blessings you can spread to others. Even your smile can help someone today, but your message especially can heal – whether it’s through words or art. And while you’re trying your best to spread a little cheer, notice who or what shows up to encourage you, too.

Full Sagittarius Moon: Letting Go of What Limits Us

So much of this full moon symbolizes relationship. We’re being asked to look beyond what we might see as our personal failures or disappointments. The people we love and the world around us can give us clues on meaning and the next right action. What are you truly seeing? The same image that sends me into panic makes my husband think he's the luckiest man on the planet. I can think he's wrong or I can try to see what he sees and find the good news. Either things are better than I think or I have a husband who can love me anyway.
